I am Abby Francis, a photographer and journalist. I grew up in qathet, B.C. located on the upper Sunshine Coast, until recently, when I moved to Burnaby for school. I am also a proud member of Tla’amin Nation, a self-governing First Nation since 2016.  I’m a cat mom, an avid birder , and a wild salmon enthusiast.

This is a feature story I wrote for IndigiNews during my four week internship. It is about Tla’amin First Nation (of which I am a member of) reclaiming their village site tiskʷat, which is the area the former Powell River mill and dam were built and operated on for decades.
